The competition is organized by the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Silesia and the Katowice branch of the Polish Chemical Society. The first stage of the competition will be held online on March 12, 2026, during which a lecture entitled "Hydrogen – is it able to change the world?" will be presented. The lecture will be given by dr hab. inż. Mateusz Korzec, prof. UŚ.

The sponsor of the main prizes in the competition is the company Synthos S.A. The competition is held under the patronage of: the Polish Chemical Society, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Director of the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Silesia.
The main goal of the Chemistry Competition is to popularize science and increase students' interest in chemistry or related sciences (mathematics, physics), to shape young people towards independent acquisition of knowledge, and to encourage students to study this discipline. The competition consists of two parts: the first covers theoretical issues and consists of 45 questions on general chemical knowledge slightly exceeding the high school level, and the second covers laboratory tasks in the field of analytical, organic, or inorganic chemistry. All laureates receive diplomas and book prizes (PWN publishing house), which are usually the latest editions of academic textbooks or scientific books in the field of chemistry.
We cordially encourage you to participate!
