Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to inform you that, acting in agreement with the Ministry of National Education and the Central Examination Board, the Managing Board of the Polish Chemical Society has undertaken a strategic initiative aimed at standardizing and organizing Polish chemical nomenclature for educational purposes.
At the end of last year, guided by concern for the highest quality of chemical education in Poland, I established the Committee on Chemical Nomenclature in Primary and Secondary Schools. Its task is to develop coherent, unambiguous, and modern recommendations that will enable teachers and students to use nomenclature consistent with the current state of knowledge.
The Committee, which brings together renowned specialists from academic centers, experts in the field of nomenclature, and experienced translators of chemistry textbooks and books, collaborates with chemistry teachers and institutions responsible for the shape of the core curriculum and the examination system.
Currently, the substantive work covering the entirety of inorganic and organic chemistry material has been completed. Ahead of us is the editorial and review stage, to which we will also invite practitioners – chemistry teachers from various schools.
I can assure you with full conviction that the Managing Board of the Polish Chemical Society will make every effort to ensure that this document reaches the educational community as soon as possible and becomes a lasting, reliable foundation for teaching chemistry in Poland.
