The call for applications for the 2026 Gold Medal in Chemistry competition under the honorary patronage of PTChem is now open
We would like to remind you that applications for the 16th edition of the prestigious "2026 Gold Medal in Chemistry" competition can be submitted until October 10, 2026. The event is organized by the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IPC PAS) in Warsaw in cooperation with DuPont. This initiative has once again received the honorary patronage of the Polish Chemical Society (PTChem).
The competition is addressed to young scientists who are the authors of the best bachelor's or engineering theses in the field of chemistry, as well as at the interface of chemistry and biology or chemistry and physics. The competition is open to theses of cognitive and practical significance that were completed and defended in Poland during the 2025/2026 academic year.
Financial prizes await the laureates:
- The Gold Medal is a prize of 15,000 PLN.
- For the Silver Medal, 7,500 PLN will be awarded.
- The winner of the Bronze Medal will receive 3,750 PLN.
- Three DuPont distinctions, each worth 3,000 PLN, are also planned.
Furthermore, all finalists will gain the valuable opportunity to complete a scientific internship at the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS and conduct research in its laboratories free of charge.
Competition applications are accepted via the website www.zlotymedalchemii.pl. The list of finalists will be published on November 10, 2026, and the ceremonial announcement of results and the award presentation will take place on December 15, 2026.
