On April 13, 2026, a press conference was held in Lublin dedicated to the latest premiere of the monodrama "Marie Skłodowska-Curie. The Experience", which will take place on June 19 on the stage of the Old Theatre in Lublin. This meeting, in which I participated along with Prof. Dr. hab. Agnieszka Nosal-Wiercińska, presented the concept of the play, which is something more than just a biography.

The play "Marie Skłodowska-Curie. The Experience" is a moving monodrama performed by Agnieszka Przepiórska (a theater actress associated with the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow, film and television actress, educator, producer, and curator of the CarpeDiem festival), which, instead of a dry compilation of historical facts, offers an emotional portrait of the outstanding Nobel Prize winner. The creators – director Justyna Łagowska and author of the text Piotr Rowicki – abandon building another monument, focusing on the human dimension of Marie's life. The story guides the viewer through the amplitude of the protagonist's fate: from her youth in partitioned Poland and great scientific successes in Paris, to the painful loss of her husband, mourning, and battle with depression.

The key motif of the performance is courage and the right to self-determination in a male-dominated world. The play portrays Skłodowska-Curie as a woman who was the first to blaze trails – both in academia and in everyday life – paying a high price for it. It is a manifesto of female genius and determination embedded in the currents of history, which remains relevant to this day.

On behalf of the Presidium of the Main Board of PTChem and the entire PTChem community, I would like to thank the director of the Old Theatre in Lublin, Mr. Michał Karapuda, for the invitation to participate in this endeavor and for taking patronage over it, which is extremely important and valuable for the Polish Chemical Society.

President of PTChem, Prof. Dr. hab. Robert Pietrzak
