On May 11, 2026, a ceremony was held at the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw for the placement of the plaque for the international Historical Landmarks Award 2024, granted by the European Chemical Society. This unique distinction is awarded to places of special significance to the history of chemistry.
The Historical Landmarks Award is a recognition of the Museum's exceptional contribution to preserving the scientific heritage of Maria Skłodowska-Curie and inspiring future generations of researchers. For years, this institution has served as a living monument to the Polish Nobel laureate, combining education with the commemoration of her achievements. The ceremonial ribbon cutting was performed by the President of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS), Prof. Angela Agostiano, and the President of the Polish Chemical Society, Prof. Robert Pietrzak. They were accompanied by members of the PTChem Presidium, as well as the Museum's Management and staff.
Warm congratulations and words of appreciation were offered by Prof. Robert Pietrzak, Mr. Artur Jóźwik – Director of the Culture Department of the Capital City of Warsaw, and Prof. Izabela Nowak – former President of PTChem and initiator of the application.
We extend our warmest congratulations to the Director and all Museum employees, and we wish them success in carrying out future museum endeavors.
