Prof. Pierre Joliot passes away (1932–2026)

It is with deep sadness that we received the news of the passing of Prof. Pierre Joliot, a distinguished French biochemist, son of Irène and Frédéric Joliot-Curie, and grandson of Marie Skłodowska-Curie and Pierre Curie.

Pierre Joliot was a world-renowned authority in the field of photosynthesis. For decades, he conducted scientific research, contributing to the development of biology, biophysics, and biochemistry. He was an honorary professor at the Collège de France and a member of the French Academy of Sciences. With great dedication, he continued the scientific legacy of his prominent family, advancing it through his own research and discoveries.

Members of the Presidium of the Polish Chemical Society had the pleasure of meeting the Professor in person during a visit to Paris. This unique meeting was an unforgettable experience that will forever remain in our memory.

We extend our most sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those affected by this loss.
