It is with deep sadness that we received the news that on April 8, 2026, passed away
Prof. Dr. hab. eng. Henryk Górecki
An outstanding chemical technologist, professor of chemical sciences, specializing in the technology of fertilizers and feed additives, as well as waste utilization.
After graduating from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, he tied his entire academic career to his alma mater, where he obtained the title of professor in 1988.
He held numerous organizational positions within the University's structures:
- from 1982 to 1987, he was the Director of the Institute of Inorganic Technology and Mineral Fertilizers,
- from 1987 to 1992, the Director of the Science Division,
- and from 1997, for two terms, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at WUST.
He also served as the chairman of the Chemistry, Chemical Technology, as well as Process Engineering and Environmental Protection Team of the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN).
Among the many decorations and distinctions awarded to the Professor, the following should be mentioned:
- Gold Cross of Merit
- Medal of the National Education Commission
- Ignacy Mościcki Medal
- The titles of doctor honoris causa of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences and the Cracow University of Technology
- Gold Badge of SITPChem
He was a mentor to many generations of chemists and co-founder of the Chemistry for Agriculture Team at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
