After months of work by the academic community, a draft bill has been created that can change the conditions of a scientific career for subject didactics specialists in Poland.
Today, individuals researching how to teach mathematics, chemistry, foreign languages, or biology often have nowhere to classify their academic achievements – they function “between” disciplines, without a path for career advancement. The draft amendment to the Law on Higher Education and Science aims to fix this: without creating new disciplines, without violating the autonomy of universities, by recognizing achievements in the field of subject didactics within existing structures.
Strong subject didactics mean better-prepared teachers. This directly translates to the quality of schools.
